Playing live: Weeks/months of converting existing tracks into live versions, writing new bass parts and sequences, making samples and patches, sourcing and cutting video, assembling and syncing the whole set, then weeks of rehearsals. Travel and accomodation costs.
'I can only pay you £150 for the gig, you've got five minutes to set up/take down, and I've bumped you to the early evening slot when barely anyone is there.'
Enjoying Pye Corner Audio a lot today, haven't played him in a while. Truly a unique sound. Kind of raw hauntological disco. Check him out if you don't know him.
Nearly played a gig with him a couple of years ago, until I pulled out (nothing to do with him).
Went to a local farmer's market this morning (we went in January so second time). Came home with savoury pies, sourdough bread, cheese, gin, ales.
It's great to chat to the people that actually make all this stuff.
