3/10 from my series of 19th century photos

The most pristine group portrait I have, virtually everyone standing still, so no motion blur from the long exposure.

Two cuts of meat hanging from the doorway and the gents in the back wearing white aprons lead me to conclude these are the employees of a butcher shop. If I had to guess, based on the more urban setting, maybe this is Springfield, MA?

@jeremyosborn Of the three women there, one looks pissed off, one looks scared. The one in the middle has a great smirk. She's not taking any of this seriously. Love it.
@bit101 yes, they no doubt had instructions from the photographer to stand absolutely still for at least 5 seconds. That requirement, btw, makes it all the more interesting when you get honest expressions of a person’s personality
@jeremyosborn I'm making up a story in my head just looking at this. She's the owner's daughter. His wife made him give her the job. She thinks it's all a big laugh.
