The 'Svitzer Bedford' in port this morning. There are two other tugboats currently in port as well; the 'Placentia Pride' (Voith escort tug, operates around Come by Chance), and the tiny 'Dalton Guardian'.

The Bedford is a modest ~50T+ escort tug, built around 2005.

Nice morning out, crisp cool and sunny with little wind

@CowMan I haven't been to St. John's since I moved away ~40 years ago (yikes - how'd that happen?).

I was clicking around in one of the online map sites a few weeks ago and I barely recognize the city.

Where I used to live has been flattened and doesn't exist any more. Ha.

@fxworks flattened?! Most areas have gone the other way, taken by suburban sprawl :)

Same though with where I grew up, been long enough now that demographics have changed, things like my old elementary school are gone. The woods I played in are townhouses.

Swamp is still there though

@CowMan Yeah, my Dad was in the military - housing near Quidi Vidi doesn't appear to exist any more.

My family is on the Northern Peninsula but I haven't been back since 2014.

@fxworks oh got ya. Yes, the old barracks were just foundations until last year - new prison and SPCA developments on the hill.

Some of the old facilities remain, tiled buildings boarded up but not in great shape. The old hospital is gone but there is a newer long-term care facility of some size there.

The main flattened area starts development this year though. ~1,000 units.
