@CrabbyIT there have been some stories on /r/recruiterhell or whatever that sub is called about replying to the rejection email with positive vibes asking when the next interview or what the next steps are to proceed forward. This apparently has some success where the hr rejection bot will go, your right let's get you moved on to the next phase of interviews.

I've started applying around again hoping to try this for myself.

Tldr; ignore the rejection, and act as if your moving forward. The HR bot might comply.
