Wrote about maintaining a human web and how the human.json project & the 'AI' blacklist for uBlock made browsing the web a bit better.

Maintaining a human web: human.json & the 'AI' blacklist

My dislike strong opposition to engaging with “AI” generated things, be that texts, images, code or anything else is well-documented. But avoiding the mindless slop is still getting harder, as it seems that more and more developers, writers – and of course SEO-scum trying to make quick buck – can’t...

@gedankenstuecke I genuinely think I wouldn't be able to survive without ublock.
@ReedYenara yeah, and being able to also block out "AI" pages is great, improves my search experience a lot!
@gedankenstuecke Wow, thanks! Didn't know about the human.json project, that's genius! Added it to my website straight away 😊
@gedankenstuecke I added a human.json to https://bookandsword.com/ but I think to be effective someone in the network also has to add me to theirs

@bookandswordblog strange, it doesn't show up for me yet!
@gedankenstuecke idk if its helpful but this ai blocklist i started using is bigger overall https://github.com/laylavish/uBlockOrigin-HUGE-AI-Blocklist
looking at it, it goes down to individual pages on websites. im just going to use both now 🤷
GitHub - laylavish/uBlockOrigin-HUGE-AI-Blocklist: A huge blocklist of manually curated sites that contain AI generated imagery for uBlock Origin & uBlacklist.

@gedankenstuecke
Why json?
There is already human.txt
https://humanstxt.org/
Humans TXT: We Are People, Not Machines.

An initiative to know the creators of the website. Contains the information about humans to the web building.

@Enalys humans.txt is orthogonal in its ambition, it just gives a way for people to give some details about how made a page and give thanks etc.
@gedankenstuecke
Can something like this be made into an extension?
@ilust606 you mean one that doesn't require the websites to declare it themselves?
@gedankenstuecke Basically a detector – regardless of what the site is telling us.
