A major milestone has been reached in the construction of the new St Helens #Transport Interchange, with completion of the northern concourse steel framework marked by a ‘golden spanner’ ceremony. The £35m scheme, largely funded by the #Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, forms part of wider town centre regeneration. Built using low-carbon steel, the structure supports a modern, energy-efficient design featuring solar panels and a light-filled façade. Led by VINCI Building with partners including St Helens Borough Council and #English Cities Fund, the project aims to improve sustainable travel and connectivity. Once finished, it will offer expanded bus facilities, step-free access, real-time travel information and cycle storage, alongside new public spaces, creating a more accessible gateway to the town.
