“the only dude”
yes, just what the doctor ordered… another white christian dude in the senate
we’re all gonna vote for this seminarian, but jfc how about some diversity ffs?
sorry, i’m not sure that looking for some representation that isn’t old white christian dudes is ‘identity politics’.
it seems like having some other kinds of voices that represent what our nation actually looks like would be beneficial for all of us.
hakeem jeffries is fuken a milquetoast shit gibbon waiting to pelosi his way to riches beyond the imagination. fuck that guy.
yes i understand how primaries work. i had just hoped for a different outcome.
thank you for taking the time to explain, man.
“Some stood with Jasmine, others stood with Talarico, and that’s exactly how democracy is supposed to work,” Williams said. “Primaries are where we compete, but November is where we decide. And if you don’t make that shift from competition to coalition, we lose more than an election. We lose momentum. We lose representation.”
The entire reason she ran, by her own admission, was the polls the NSRC were pushing, they were the ones that started including her name because they hoped to fracture the Dem base and get a weaker opponent.
I really don’t think Crockett is mature enough to understand her best move now is tying her wagon to Talarico. If she wants a higher office (and she clearly does) then that’s the move to keep her name in the public.
Not to mention it showing voters that she’s willing to keep fighting despite no chance for personal gain out of it.
But I fully expect her to go back to her best MTG impression in the house.
Love for her to prove me wrong and keep fighting to get a D texas senator even tho it’s not her. I just can’t see any logical reason to expect it
There’s a lot of bitter sentiment toward Talarico among Black voters in Texas who don’t think their interests can be represented by anyone but Crockett. Lots of “he hasn’t done anything to deserve my vote” kind of talk, if that sounds familiar.
The primary result shows that he is hitting the mark with everyone from progressives to religious moderates, but he’s got an uphill battle with Black voters and he’ll probably be spending a lot of time on messages like the one in the article for the rest of the year. I would hope that Crockett gets on board with endorsements and campaigning for him, but I think you may be right that she didn’t have that in her.

And that is legitimately the result of Republican propaganda…
They haven’t been shy about it, it’s open information now.

That’s why I’m saying what a good Dem politician would do (even for purely selfish reasons) would be to campaign for Talarico.
But I don’t think she will, I think best case she never mentions the Senate race again. But I could see her doing some truly stupid shit too. I legitimately don’t understand why people like her.
For most people just knowing how she got her current seat would be enough for them to want her primaried…
On November 20, 2021, incumbent representative Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas’s 30th congressional district announced she would not seek reelection in 2022.[21] Four days later, Crockett declared her candidacy for the seat. Johnson simultaneously announced that she was backing Crockett.[22][23] Crockett also received extensive financial support from Super PACs aligned with the cryptocurrency industry, with Sam Bankman-Fried’s Protect Our Future PAC giving $1 million in support of her campaign.

If she ever be ame a Senator, shed likely pull a Sinema. The only excuse is she’s easily manipulated and just keeps getting played. Which itself is a reason to stop fucking electing her.
If you think you can’t vote for a Democrat, remember that Trump has named the Dems as his greatest enemy.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
The way I look at it is simple.
Every Dem candidate since 1976 has been close to Jimmy Carter.
Every GOP candidate has been more Right Wing than the last.
I’d much rather have a slightly bad President than an absolutely terrible one.
The ones who didn’t vote for Harris don’t call themselves “liberals”, and they’re certainly not Dems. They are the far left, or Tankies, and they hate liberals.
…
There are not, never have been, and never will be enough “tankie” American voters to ever be statistically relevant in any major election, especially presidential…
Harris lost because she couldnt get enough of the ~30% of eligible voters that never vote off their asses.
In large parts due to having zero natural charisma, and a policy platform to the right of what the average voter wanted, but not as far right as trump.
Under those conditions a loss is virtually guaranteed, which is why just a few months after that the voting members of the DNC pivoted away from the neoliberals who shoved her down America’s throats and gave the DNC to probably the least biased state chair in modern history.
Like, the people you’re blaming just aren’t enough people to matter, regardless of who they voted for or if they voted.
Buddy…
If you removed the straw that broke the camels back, it would still buckle under the weight seconds later.
One straw isn’t enough, if Biden/Harris had been perfect except for Gaza, they’d have still lost.
And instead of Gaza, there’s be a different “single issue” being blamed.
Biden/Harris were uncharismatic and to the right of the average American voter, but obviously not far enough right to get trump voters.
It was a piss poor strategy and that’s why the DNC pivoted so hard last year in their chair election.
You’re so late to understanding this issue, you missed that we solved it a year ago.
But you’re still so confident despite that ignorance
Why not ask questions?
you’ve claimed that the average American voter is to the left of mainstream Democratic pols. That is one of the dumbest theories I’ve heard in a while.
She came out for fracking…
For tougher border policy than trump/Biden were doing…
She said Biden had done enough for student loans and shed maintain course even tho it wasn’t working…
But most importantly she told anyone that would listen she’d do everything just as Biden did.
Because neoliberals always act like Dem voters want what Republican voters want.
Because they are to the right of the average American not just in policy, but in personality.
You may be too close to that to be able to see it
They are the far left, or Tankies, and they hate liberals.
Well, the few of them that weren’t bots.
