Micheal Mansfield KC, speaking with some authority on SKY, says the backlog in cases being heard is down to lack of investment in the whole system, not whether cases are being heard by jury or magistrate and of the latter he is concerned because, "that is only one man's mind over seeing a case"

@Geri If there's such a backlog of cases as we're being told, surely the answer is to reopen/re-establish the court buildings shut by the Tories and increase the number of sitting days.

Abolishing trial by jury is akin to having brain surgery for a broken ankle.
