The Central Station viaduct over Argyle Street in central Glasgow. Designed by the architect James Miller and the engineer David Mathieson, it was built around 1900. It quickly earned the nickname of the Hielanman's Umbrella as it was a popular meeting spot for people who'd been forced to move from the Highlands of Scotland to the city in search of work as it offered shelter from Glasgow's notoriously inclement weather.

This tradition reached its height in the 1920s and 1930s, but died out during World War II, when the blackout meant the lights under the bridge were no longer lit.
