just clocked >600 Mbps down via speedtest.net using a very cheap VPS (cheaper than a VPN subscription) which means i just do not ever have to let un-tunneled traffic into the UK ISP networks at all
@whitequark I really wanted to do this too but it comes with a near constant reminder of how much of the internet has become cloudflare. every datacenter AS seems to reliably get captchas
@kris doesn't seem the problem for me at all
@whitequark @kris buttflare is not even the worst offender in practice.. some sites do their own diy ip bans which are worse. e.g. reddit just does not open from mullvad (except via some of the socks proxies inside mullvad)
@valpackett @kris this is why the meta is to run your own exit nodes
@whitequark @kris at least in the past, most vps providers had like even worse ip reputation effectively than public vpns… but yea if you find a good one that's great

@valpackett @kris the trick is to stick with lesser known ones than like hetzner and digitalocean

i use ionos and datalix and i barely ever have to deal with captchas. less than once a day on average
