Having a bit of an idle afternoon, with a rare #fireplace spark up. In our cosy nook with a book.

Hoping the incoming two somewhat-sunny and above-freezing days will be good for a walk or two. Marginal knee just now, which will hopefully recover and let me walk more than just a few blocks.

@ottaross Looks cosy indeed! What are you reading these days?

@LillyHerself just finished a 2011 Vernor Vinge novel that completes his 'Deepness' trilogy. His last novel sadly. A nice thick one though, but it's been a long while since I read the earlier two, so may pick them up again this year.

Also working through Mark Twain's travelogue 'Innocents Abroad' which outlines his long trip to Europe and the Mideast in 1867.

@ottaross I got his "Zones of Thought: A Fire Upon the Deep, A Deepness in the Sky" omnibus on Kindle last summer, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Too easy to forget about one's kindle editions!

@LillyHerself ah yes, that's the trilogy. It's packed with interesting ideas, well executed.

I agree it's hard to remember your ebooks sometimes.

I keep intending to print the covers of any ebook I'm reading and just have it lying around while I read to better imprint on the brain.

@ottaross That is a truly excellent idea. I kind of had the same problem when I switched from LPs to CDs. All those miniaturised album covers - didn't help physicalise the music the way an LP cover (esp a double one) did.
