We're sharing this Boon Kriek Mariage Parfait tonight. I love Boon's Oude Kriek so I was curious how this fancier version would be in comparison.

It is the smoothest Kriek I ever had. The cherries are super prominent and even a little bitter but super delicious and supported by just a touch of cork flavor and Geuze funk. Extremely smooth. Ad you do not at all taste the 8% ABV.

Kudos, Boon! You have once again proven that you are absolute masters of your craft!

I had to look up what a Kriek is. Now, I want one!

I've planted three tart cherry trees in the last couple years. I knew the fruit would end up in alcohol, somehow. Now, I know possibly what type.

@scandigonian Bonus points if you pull off the whole spontaneous fermentation and barrel aging for three years thing 😉

Would this be your first sour beer? We can give you some pointers on using sourdough for fermentation.

Now that I think about it we should do that more often, it's delicious.

"Would this be your first sour beer?"

Yes, though this will probably be a next year project. This year's cherry harvest is destined for mead.

@scandigonian Hm, my own experiments with cherries are a few years in the past now, maybe I should give this a shot too 🙂
