Just heard of #Creality's filament recycling system. Interesting for sure, though I'm sceptical it will be as good as #Recyclingfabrik (for those in the EU) given their bigger machines and years of expertise. I also am very sceptical about the company since they went IPO, wouldn't be remotely surprised to see them enshittificating. Though machines like these absolutely are the right way, throwing away homogenous material just because of the wrong shape feels awfully wasteful.

@Timpostma Of course, that's why I'm also happy to see more truly biodegradable materials such as PHA. Unfortunately it's not very popular so far though.

@Natanox it’s a trend but so is chemical recycling which is where products like plastic can be broken down back into its original ingredients allowing to re polymerize

@Timpostma If that's even available or done on your region, but a material that's harmless to the environment is always better than one that can be recycled at best. Saves on microplastics.

Given how 3D Printing made manufacturing so much more available my bet definitely is on the biodegradable materials for daily use and highly available recycling for materials with special properties that don't have degradable alternatives (yet), like ASA.

@Natanox yes if your willing to pay more look up direct metal laser sintering as a type of #3DPrinting just understand everyone is responsible for what they download , design , manufacture, share designs , otherwise exchange or any of the above
