China's massive data leak of military secrets ?

The National Super Computer Center in Tianjin seemed to have experienced a massive data leak of whooping 10 PetaByte of internal data, inclusive classified data. Samples have leaked, we took a look.

@campuscodi What are even the logistics of stealing/storing/selling/managing 10 Petabytes of data?

Some quick math shows this would take 2.5 years to transfer over a 1 gig link. It would take over 700 very large NAS/SAN-scale hard drives that would weigh 1500 pounds and cost over $300,000, just to store all the data.

@sawaba @campuscodi So it’s either fake or some state sponsored hacker group?
@augebbs @campuscodi No idea, I'm just pointing out the crazy logistics that come with handling 10 petabytes of data
@sawaba @campuscodi and I find it very relevant and interesting, that’s why I wanted to dig a little deeper. Thank you for bringing this up!

@campuscodi Even if the cyber security is a little bit shoddy, eventually someone probably would notice a constant data extraction process of this size.

dont count on it, human stupidity wins every time
