Stephen FoskettI’m surprised systemd maintainers haven’t given up the charade and eliminated all of /etc in favor of a binary database. The traditional system config files are mostly a nod to backward compatibility at this point, with the systemd nanny demanding to be notified if you dare modify hosts or fstab or whatever.
If you had told 1994 me that the replacement for init would manage network interfaces, DNS, and user accounts (including age and real name) I would have laughed out loud. But here we are.
