How nice! What brought you onto Atlantis II?
@TimKStanton I was getting a journalism degree and was lucky enough to land a summer internship in WHOI's communications office. (What a summer!) The A2 had returned from a trip around the world and I got a ride as she headed over from Woods Hole to New Bedford to fuel up for her next expedition.

Sounds like a terrific summer. A rarity to have that ship at WHOI (same for its replacement, Atlantis), given its extensive travel. I assume this was all long before your editorship with MIT TR?

After working at Sea Technology Magazine in Washington DC, I ended up back in Boston covering personal computing/internet for many years, then launched Tech Review's first website, then began covering biomedical research. Yes, what a long strange (and fascinating) trip!

Thanks! And still loving my involvement at WHOI, now in an emeritus capacity. Working with a recently graduated student of mine on publishing part of his thesis.
I see that we are doubly connected— I loved both Sea Technology and MIT Technology Review. Went through each, cover to cover, when they arrived in my mailbox at WHOI. I still have some of the articles that I ripped out of TR before it went electronic. Congratulations to you on your leadership in scientific writing!
