Reform UK's 'competition' clearly breaches the law.

"The ICO have a statutory duty to monitor and ensure compliance with UK data protection law. Instead of doing their job, the ICO are telling to the public to “go figure it out themselves.

The ICO refusal to fulfill their duty and carry out much needed oversight marks yet another institutional failure, which risks affecting the May elections.”

ICO must investigate Reform ‘competition’ for data protection breaches

The ICO must investigate a Reform UK ‘competition’ which asks the public to hand over details of their voting preferences in order to be eligible to win their energy bills being paid for a year.

@openrightsgroup @marianods Sounds a bit weird. But the rules are that everybody is deemed to know what canvas returns are used for - you don't have to read out a whole long data protection spiel when you knock on a door.

Why they think they have to bribe people to participate in voter ID is unclear. I think that all they'll gain over the usual methods of collecting this data is that more people will lie in the hope of receiving the bribe.
