#HappyBirthday to Ernie Quigley, born OTD in 1880, and arguably the most prolific referee in sports history. In 40+ years of officiating, it's estimated he worked 5,400 baseball, 1,500 basketball, and 400 football games logging 100,000 miles yearly in travel. Asked how his wife liked him being away 325 nights a year, he quipped: “Mrs. Quigley likes it fine. We’re constantly getting reacquainted.”
