No you can't bungee tie a 1.8m timber decking board to a £30 second hand Ofo hire bike.

@RantyHighwayman Steering looks like it would be interesting with the board between those handlebars.

@drgeraint @RantyHighwayman It’s strapped to the side, not between. Once you’re going you typically don’t need much steering angle and there’s probably enough slack in there.

Nice job. 😊

@Tubemeister @drgeraint @RantyHighwayman If you can temporarily demount the basket , you could attach without obstructing the steering.
@Djo85 Probably would've been possible to tie it on top of the basket instead of to the steering, but you might need to cycle a bit bow legged then if it gets further off the centerline. ;-)
@Tubemeister The basket needs to be adjusted. This will allow the board to be attached so it doesn't affect the steering. You can place the board below the basket, but it affect the wheel pivotting.
@Djo85 @Tubemeister @drgeraint yes it was fine. I wasn't going far or fast!
@RantyHighwayman I have a vague recollection of seeing cargo bikes available for loan at a DIY store for you to take your purchases home. Not recently though.
@TimWardCam @RantyHighwayman
I think I recall that Ikea (at least in Sweden) used to offer that.

@TimWardCam @RantyHighwayman wasn't there some supermarket & B&Q site in Cambridge that loaned out trailers for a few years?

I once put a 3m ladder on my bike to get it home. The bike was unrideable, plus I cursed the cycleway designers putting obstructions and zero radius corners in.

@mjr @TimWardCam @RantyHighwayman Homebase did, I used it once, it was a trike and the brakes were unbalanced left/right

As I was moving in to my first apartment, Dad found a used kitchen table for sale somewhere. He balanced it on seat and handlebars, and walked bike plus table the two miles to my new place.
I'm not sure how he turned the thing...
