As cheesy as this sounds - even if you’re failing by all the world’s metrics of success, if you can lift someone else up today - even in the smallest way - you’ve done something of weight and - for all involved - kept the darker things at bay.
And multiplied by many, a society that values this will outlast every society that doesn’t anyway.
