I regret to inform you that I am Back On My Bullshit with the fucken whipper snipper
Having tried every possible way to clean and clear a hypothetically blocked carburetor short of replacing the entire thing, I now suspect the ignition module.
Now where the fuck did my torx bits go?
TFW the “cheap Chinese” repair kit is better quality than the OEM
It starts!

It’s no better under throttle load!

Fucking hell.

Full replacement carburetor it is then. I think it might have ended up in storage

Scratch that. It runs!

Now it runs TOO well - the throttle doesn’t return to idle anymore?

This was definitely because I had to disassemble the handle which contains the throttle trigger, to get the front cover off, which needs to come off to replace the ignition module
Anyway to end on a tangent, if you need to disassemble a “classic” Mac (512, Plus, SE, Classic, etc), I found my extended-shaft Torx driver. You know, the one that you need to remove the two screws that are hiding down the far end of the top handle.
@jpm oh, I know the one. Try finding one in The Maldives in 1991
@jpm Ah. Yep. That one.
@jpm hmmm. Bare feet and long screwdrivers. That OnlyFans material right there!
@jpm I remember the extra RAM I bought in 1989 came with a “Mac Cracker” (which was just a long-shaft torx). I still have it in the garage.
@jpm ... but after deciding the the Mac you took apart is a write-off, you might want to cover its grave a little better - it was an antique and demands a little respect, afterall ...
@jpm sounds like that scene from "The Castle"...
@jpm Why would you want it to be idle? STOP BEING LAZY AND WHIP SOME SNIPS, APPLIANCE.
