i feel like there are obvious answers here and yet people will make it seem like i’m crazy for suggesting them

Are AI agents actually slowing us down?

As more software engineers use AI agents daily, there’s also more sloppy software, outages, quality issues, and even a slowdown in shipping velocity. What’s happening, and how do we solve it?

@davidcelis at work, a higher-up in an all-hands meeting said “well, you’re all using AI, but you’re not shipping more things” (threateningly)

@davidcelis The answer is right there on the ground waiting to be tripped over!
@davidcelis Is eating anything vaguely shaped like food affecting our health??
@davidcelis The answer is indeed obvious, but these people live and breathe bullshit; they will not accept the obvious answer, IMO.

@davidcelis not even “shipping velocity” has ever been about being able to churn out code fast. there’s so much more to software development, and development of good software, than writing code, and use of “AI agents” is very counterproductive to most if not all of those other things; good thing some people are beginning to wake up to that, i guess

ive been seeing more and more slopwranglers have this realization, actually; that their beloved slop generators are not actually good for them nor anyone else for that matter, and perhaps it is time to give up on any delusions otherwise. indeed, the bubble is past its peak now
