So there’s this RCA audio receiver with the top opened and all the parts exposed in my lap right now. It’s model RT2911, and I think the volume potentiometer is going on it.

It’ll play fine for a few seconds, then get really quiet all of the sudden. But when you wiggle the volume nob it gets better.

Makes it really hard to listen to anything.

Anybody know where to look for almost 20 year old audio parts?
Cause I think I can replace it but it doesn’t exist on the internet anymore, it seems.

@risomor Sometimes you can fix an iffy potentiometer with contact cleaner or isopropanol.

Sounds like an old fashioned resistive potentiometer, those tend to accumulate dirt layer, so turning the knob several times back and forth would erode some of that crust and make it work better again.
