With about 3 weeks left until we close on the house, it's time to start getting serious about packing and moving out of the apartment. I started by taking most of my professional library and instruments to the storage unit.

I can get by with just one #guitar and one bass and one amp for a few weeks, right?

Is this "roughing it?"

Our storage unit is a bit underutilized since upgrading a few months ago, so I want to move as much stuff not in daily use over there as I can. On "moving day" we just move the daily use stuff from the apartment, and everything else can be loaded en masse from the storage unit at our convenience

which will be very fast because I hate paying over $300 a month for storage.

The mortgage, even with insurance and taxes and whatnot, will be less than our apartment rent plus storage unit rent.

@venya Storage is that much now? It’s been 18 years since I used any but wow. So happy you and your crew have your own place.

@TomasHradcky

In fairness, we have a pretty large space, like 10x15', because that was what available when we needed to upgrade from 5x10'. In an air-conditioned facility, I think it's around $300 per month. But it's only a block away from our apartment, so I frequently tow a wagon there with stuff (or to bring stuff back). I'm happy with the service and considering our 1000sqft apartment, it was a necessary expense--but I'll be happy to cancel it.

@venya 1,000 sq ft with two young men. No wonder you tightened up your work station so well.

It’s great the storage space is so close. Ours was up near my family which is 60 miles north. Great price and at the time necessary as we hadn’t found this great place yet to rent.
