I think I understand BGP now.

This probably means I am delusional.

But, finally, I know why we have route reflectors for iBGP and why you use a loopback address.

I presume this means I have reached BGP Level: “can be safely assumed to advertise the default route to the Internet from his VDSL.”

@cynicalsecurity which loopback do you use? where is it set?

@phessler it is a learning experience … I am enjoying it. I am setting up a test network with lots of OpenBSD VMs.
@phessler but, having said this, as I learn I appreciate the OpenBGPd design. As I read about pitfalls (c.f. default route), I can see how that is harder to do by design.
