NVDA is great, and I can see how it can be a primary screen reader for a lot of people. I haven’t decided yet if that includes me. Jaws is just what I know so well.
@technocounselor I was in the same boat as you. I had used jaws sense it's dos days. smile. oh sure, I also used window-eyes from time to time, but I was 99 percent jaws. I made the choice to switch last october, because I knew I couldn't really afford my jaws hom manual lisence last november, so in october I dropped jaws, and have been using NVDA sense.
@JamminJerry @technocounselor Is there a way to virtualize the window in nvda like you can in jaws? explain the review and flat navigation modes for nvda please.
@keao @technocounselor I don't know all that stuff very well. I am still learning things myself. smile.
@JamminJerry @technocounselor got it! and I love nvda because it's fast at loading, I know DVR is going to slowly force students to use NVDA but the commands how the hell can I teach new students when they are so use to jaws?
@keao @technocounselor I am going to be teaching @shefoof how to use an android. I am even giving her an older one of mine. not too old mind you, but one I don't use except for beta testing. it is a pixel 8, but I get to teach it to her. I have already had the talk with her though that she needs to go into it with an open mind, and not think it will be just like an IPhone. she isn't completely switching, but she wants to learn how touse one, and if she likes it enough, she might switch.
