Allison MeloyNVDA is great, and I can see how it can be a primary screen reader for a lot of people. I haven’t decided yet if that includes me. Jaws is just what I know so well.
Michael Feir@technocounselor If I ever need to use Windows again, I'll be using NVDA. If nobody is paying me for my efforts, I just can't justify getting JAWS. If they do pay me for my efforts, I have no other use for JAWS so they had better pay well for all the effort I put into learning it again. By the time I stopped using Windows, NVDA was easily meeting my needs.
@mfeir @technocounselor At lest for me, and this could've been a setting on my laptop that recently died but I doubt it, the jaws cursor has been useless to me for years. Kept hearing blank blank where ever I used it, dialogs, word docs, ETC. Touch cursor was just as bad. Besides, who needs 3 or more cursors anyway when NVDA review is so easy to grasp.
@jpellis2008 @technocounselor I used to use the rout jaws to pc cursor all the time when playing Nethack. It would work wonderfully and let me easily review the map of the dungeon my character was in. I have yet to find an equivalent game on iOS. It's one of the very few things I actually miss.
