@sixohsix I mean it is Germany, so there are strict laws about emissions... Honestly just living in Hamburg we get so many warnings about industrial fires, and we're nowhere near an official trash incinerator. We are on a major road which doesn't help air quality either.
I don't think I'd worry that much about it.
Not running anything in the house on natural gas (get rid of your gas stove) and not using candles inside are likely to make a much bigger difference in health impacting air quality levels than living close to those two installations.
@sixohsix yeah that makes sense. Don't forget there's no guarantee you'll avoid random stinks elsewhere though. There's a corner near my house that always smells like sewage...
Still though, if the incinerator is known to sometimes emit smelly stuff that's more of a guarantee it will happen.
