I bought this Walkman in 2001 as an exchange student in Tokyo. I always had a gut feeling this was the pinnacle of Walkman technology since it was a high end Made in Japan model and these stopped being produced a few years later. Looking through the amazing archive
https://Walkman.land I now feel confident that my feeling was correct. I still have the Walkman in perfect condition, including charging stand, rechargeable battery sticks, headphone remote, battery adapter… It’s a thing of beauty
I found this photo of my walkman, discman, and mini disc player all purchased when I was an exchange student in Japan c. 2001/2002. Excellent functionality, super light, beautiful design. Last I checked they all work perfectly. I loved this era of portable audio technology
@cjtype had the same minidisc player with an optical port, fantastic device!!

@typemytype yes! The optical port was great. And my sony discman had an optical out so i could easily make high fidelity MD mixtapes

Today I was just thinking about how good the cylindrical remote on the MD headphone cord was. I wish I had something like that for my iphone. The two buttons on the apple earbuds just isn't enough a lot of the time

@cjtype had a 8 track digital recorder with a 100mb zip drive with an optical out!
