A lot of the Tram (Light Rail) critics make use of varioius economic arguments to pooh-pooh the idea completely forgetting the fact that #publicTransport does not have to make a profit, or break even. THe economic benefits are measurable in the impact a tram (and its route(s)) has on all other facets of the economy, some of which are intangibles such as all the happy Gungahlin residents who work in the city, or the number of car drives that are foregone because of public transport which have repercussions on the environment, and so on…

They are just peddling an anti-public-transport agenda for a variety of reasons (fossil fuel interests for one).
