Okay, specifically UK friends (there are a lot of you here, I feel like?). If someone was planning a first trip to the UK--about 11 days, but that includes travel to/from Canada--what would you recommend? Starting from London. I was kind of thinking see London (lots to see?) a few day trips. Then it occurred to me I could take the train to Edinburgh for a few days then fly home from there. I want to resist the temptation to overdo it. And also, you're THERE, y'know?
@Vidyala as has been said, you could easily fill the time with London alone 😁 not that I'm biased, but Colchester is an hour from London on the train and has a cool modern art gallery, a really old castle museum, and a games café 😉
@alicemcalicepants not that you're biased! :D So far no one thinks it's worth going to Edinburgh, full stop? Although you're all too polite to come out and say it. 😂
@Vidyala @alicemcalicepants It's not that Edinburgh isn't worth going to, it's lovely, but when you're here for 11 days, it's quite a chunk of travel when there's so much to do in London and the South East. Not far from Colchester is the Dedham Vale of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The quintessential English countryside as painted by Constable.
