Even a Stopped Clock
@jimmac
Geometric fetishism. This looks like a tech demo for a 2010s graphics engine rather than a cozy desktop. These renders really remind me of old OpenGL or POV-Ray demos, back when everyone was just excited that a sphere could cast a soft shadow. In 2026, I want some life on my desktop, not a descriptive geometry textbook.
@levieva @jimmac You know you can... change it right? That's kinda the point of wallpapers?

@adamizcool
It’s like going to an exhibition of bad architecture and telling the visitors to just wear rose-tinted glasses. The point isn’t that I 'can’t change it' — it’s that the out-of-the-box aesthetic looks like a render from a decade ago. But please, keep me posted on the basics of GUIs, it’s clearly very important.

@jimmac

@levieva @jimmac also these wont replace every wallpaper that comes with gnome there are some more fun ones (i still think these look cool)

@adamizcool
I'm glad you think they look 'cool,' but 'I like it' isn't an argument in a discussion about design language. It doesn’t matter if there are 'fun' alternatives hidden somewhere; we’re talking about the project’s default identity. If the foundation is a decade-old aesthetic, adding a few 'fun' wallpapers is just putting lipstick on a pig.

@jimmac

@levieva @jimmac that wasn’t a argument that was just me stating they look cool also I think they expect distributions to put their own wallpapers in
@levieva @jimmac thats just my view at least
