apparently apple announced a new macbook type below the air? i can tell this is gonna get slaughtered by the techies. it’ll be the 12-inch macbook of the apple silicon era. doesn’t even use an M-series chip. guess they had a bunch of A18 pros lying around and felt the need to do something with them

see how some specs are labeled as “from?” those are the ones apple will let you expand on before purchase. your only option with the neo is phone-level specs. also it only goes up to 512GB

this might be one of my biggest pet peeves in tech rn. a computer is not a phone. a phone is not a computer. a tablet is neither a computer nor a phone. they may share functionality, they may let you do the same things, they may have the same ones and zeroes running through them… but they cannot provide the same experience or serve the same purpose as each other. stop trying to unify them

a lot of this boils down to OS/software limitations, sure, but that doesn't mean the hardware should be limited too

in fact these conceptions all fall to shit when you consider the fact that linux exists

update: apparently the neo's performance is actually really good! i still think it doesn't have a chance as a chromebook competitor based on price alone (chromebooks are typically $200 to $300 USD), but i will admit when i'm wrong about something
