Now that I’ve been using a cross platform client, the distinction between Bluesky and Mastodon feels like an implementation detail. As a user, I (mostly) don’t think about it and honestly it’s really nice.
@mattiem it's contentious, but bridgy fed has honestly been really nice for me. There's like a few people who I'm not about to try and tell how to live their life, and I can just follow their Bluesky account from my Mastodon server without making an account either. Threads meanwhile has provided zero value add in my life despite their first party adoption of ActivityPub 🤪

@axiixc I really like that bridgy fed exists, and I’ve used it. But I find there are a number of drawbacks if you really want to treat both as first class citizens.

Threads “adopted” ActivityPub, but it’s super incomplete and obviously they will never finish it.

@mattiem What client are you using?
@juergen it’s called Indigo. Unfortunately still in beta but hopefully available soon!
@mattiem weren’t you forced to verify your age?
@RosaCtrl hmmm no. I guess maybe that’s country-dependent?
@mattiem hmmm perhaps it is time to look into this. But honestly I kinda like a separation between Mastodon (tech folks) and Blue Sky (mostly politics and shit posting)

@carrchr oh that’s fine too if you want to use it that way!

As soon as this app I’m using is out of beta I’m sure more people will be trying…
