I am on the phone with TruGreen lawn service and I am 70% sure I'm talking to AI, but when I ask them repeatedly, they say, "No I am not AI, I am in the Caribbean and there is a bit of a lag, so that is what you are noticing."

The "person" keeps using the exact same "Ummm" and "Ahhh" and "I understand" and it is totally AI, right?

But then when I search up "Is TruGreen using AI for customer service?" all I see are multiple AI companies using TruGreen as case studies on their website…

@onpaperwings I had this recently as well with Chase, I believe. The rhythm of their delivery, long pauses, definitely scripted, no banter — I like to ask reps how their day is going. This person still insisted they weren’t AI. I didn’t buy it.
@jenschuetz It was the first time that I wasn’t able to get past it. There were minutes where I thought, "Well, they just have an accent and they *could* have a delay" but I hated it.
