Many years ago, someone tried to get me into cryptocurrencies. "They're the future of money!" they said. I replied saying that I'd rather wait until they were more useful, less volatile, easier to use, and utterly reliable.

@Edent I've made this exact same argument to a colleague recently!

And additional one brewing in my head but not formulated yet is "sure, it might benefit you on the short term, but you already acknowledged it has bad externalities, when are you expected to pay them?"
