Gila National Forest has just declared stage 1 fire restrictions for the entire forest. Effective March 23. In many past years much of the forest would still be inaccessible due to snow at this time of year.

I'm afraid it's going to be a very bad year.

@wanderinghermit I’m very worried about it also, for the entire west.
@wanderinghermit Yikes! Scary times until the summer monsoon arrives, with everything bone-dry for the April windy season.

@drdirtbag

Exactly. And the monsoon, if we get one at all, will arrive with lightning.

@wanderinghermit I believe the harmful algae alerts for Quemado and Snow lakes are still in effect. Be careful out there.

@kariheedots

I didn't know about that, thanks! I rarely hang out around lakes, but the Mangus Mountains east of Quemado Lake is one of my favorite areas. I'll stay in the mountains and away from the water.
