@Amgine @chris i would also like to see the Carney government fighting harder for Canadians. While there may not be that much to do directly in this specific case, there’s a lot i think they should be doing that they aren’t - being more openly critical of the border and immigration policies of the US and directing our own border protection to not go along with or even pander to the US, being louder about encouraging Canadians not to travel to the US, encouraging and supporting repatriation of Canadians in the US and expediting immigration for their non-citizen loved ones, expanding family immigration so Canadians can bring their US relatives here instead of risking detention to visit them, publicizing the cases of detained Canadians in our own and US media, etc.

@sus @chris

Lots of things.

But by far the #1 item is to withdraw from the Safe-Third-Country agreement. I am sure #Canadian diplomats could discover a polite weasel for doing so, other than the fact the USA is no longer a safe place for refugees.

It would be expensive for #Canada. I think if #Canadians speak loudly enough, the #CLPC can be forced to try to get in front of us and agree.

We owe it to our friends, family, and the citizens in the #USA.

@Amgine @chris yes! Definitely this. I’ve made a lot of phone calls to my MP about it over the last several years, but maybe it’s time for one more
