My second book was Floating Hotel by Grace Curtis (narrated by Lauryn Allman).
The many guests and residents of the Grand Abeona Hotel are dealing with many small mysteries. The characters criss-cross and overlap, dipping in and out of one another’s stories.

Jake is on the Tube, heading meet his fiancée so she can dump him, when the world ends.

Book 4 was The Long Game by Rachel Reid (narrated by Cooper North).
After a decade, Shane and Ilya are finally in a real relationship. Things are far from perfect, but both men know beyond any doubt that their love is real.

Side note: it’s adorable and ridiculous that The Shots You Take (2025, also by RR) is basically fanfic of a specific scene from The Long Game. Reid wrote fanfic of her own fiction. I love it.

When work takes Likotsi to NYC for a few days, she posts on an app looking for a short fling. She meets Fab and the two women fall ‘a little bit in love’. When her stay is extended, Fab disappears. Six months later, they meet up again.

I’m new to spicy books and I’m still figuring out where my limits are. This one was too much for me – and that’s okay.

Book 10 was The Big Reveal: An Illustrated Manifesto of Drag, written and read by Sasha Velour.
Digs into the history of drag, what it is, and why it’s so important. Definitely worth a read.

Book 11 was On The Right Path by Rian Birch (narrated by Nina Nikolic).
Jess is stuck in a rut; something is missing from her life but she’s not sure what. Then along comes Remi.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but the power imbalance felt a bit iffy.

Book 12 was The Purity Culture Recovery Guide: The Shame-Free Sex Education You Deserve by Erica Smith (narrated by Patricia Rodriguez).
Think of this book as sex-ed for adults who have a lot to unlearn.

Book 13 was Best Men by Sidney Karger (narrated by Curtis Michael Holland).
Max’s is the Gay of Honour for his best friend’s wedding. His partner/competition in this is Chasten, a man with whom he recently had a disastrous, abortive one-night stand.

Book 17 was I See You've Called in Dead by John Kenney (narrated by Sean Patrick Hopkins).
Bud feels like his life is basically over. He gets drunk and writes an unserious obituary for himself. But when he accidentally publishes it via his employer’s network, everything changes.

Book 18 was Shameless: A Sexual Reformation by Nadia Bolz-Weber.
As pastor in a progressive, affirming church, the author works with parishioners to help them unpack and recover from purity culture. In this book, she provides personal stories paired with biblical theory.

Book 19 was Diary of a Drag Queen, written and read by Tom (aka Crystal) Rasmussen.
There’s a phrase used at about the two-thirds mark: ‘leading with your trauma’. It really feels like that’s what this is.

I don’t especially like hockey. But hockey culture is basically evangelical. And seeing queers find love and happiness in a world that hates them brings me so much joy.

Book 23 was It Started With A Kiss by Clare Lydon (narrated by Katy Sobey).
When Skye and Gemma meet, sparks fly. The pair share an amazing kiss. But they’re never going to see one another again (except, of course, they totally will).
