I will be applying a patch to the Mastodon code on all Masto.host instances to mitigate an increased number of errors from object storage when instances are under heavy load: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/38145

This will require restarting services, causing approximately 15 seconds of downtime.

@mastohost I read your PR over on Git. Well done.
@j Ruby always makes me sweat 😅

You know you picked a good hosting service when they bother to tell you about 15 *seconds* of downtime:

I had providers w/ a 4 9's SLA who gave us worse service, & wouldn't have bothered to tell us about even 15 MINUTES of downtime, because we had to file 4 pages of paperwork to get the US$100 we'd be entitled to under the SLA.

And, last I checked, @mastohost complies with #AGPLv3!

If you're running out of time for your own instance, check them out.

“Our entire data center was destroyed along with all of its contents by an alien death ray. Our future selves spent the following 37 years hunting aliens, stealing their technology, and inventing time travel so they could prevent the disaster (and thwart the alien invasion). Unfortunately, there were unavoidable temporal distortions that caused the data center to temporarily not exist for 1527 milliseconds. We apologize for the inconvenience.” —tomorrow's news, probably
