Former colleague from VMware on LinkedIn:

"Today we released a product to help the customer use #AI, not block it. AI is essential.”

Me:

. o 0 { Guess what's not essential? }
(Unfollows him.)

I want to clarify something: I am ALL IN on ITERATIVE #AI, which is the stuff that finds cancer in scans, strips out background noise from audio, and finds lost mountain climbers when only a pixel or two of them shows on a photo.

I am NEVER going to be a proponent of GENERATIVE AI, which is exactly what my former colleague's post was about, sadly. It's inaccurate. It's sloppy. It's based on plagiarism. Worst of all, it's contributing to new psychological disorders.

#GenAI is NOT "essential.”

@artair I've always classified it as Computational AI vs Generative AI -- one is good, the other is crap
