“Upgraded” the other day from Debian Bookworm to Trixie on my (admittedly fairly minimal and relatively old) desktop laptop. It's broken stuff.

1) It doesn't auto-logon any more despite setting autologin-user=ed in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.

2) Screen blanks if there's no activity for a few minutes despite setting everything I can see in xfce4-power-manager-settings appropriately.

3) Worst of all, playing videos is marginal. mpv is just about watchable most of the time but drops the odd frame with little provocation from other activity on the machine. This is with the --profile=fast setting.

Can these be mostly Wayland issues?

@edavies maybe you're lacking the appropriate hardware acceleration drivers. In about:support you should see hardware acceleration for video codecs, if it doesn't show up there it's likely that you are missing those drivers right now. For mpv it's similar, --hwdec=auto should work - it usually prints errors. You can validate acceleration also with glxgears. Also any GPU top tool should show mostly GPU and not CPU usage going up on video playbacks.
