Marc Andreessen is a philosophical zombie

Andreessen caused a minor kerfuffle by saying on a podcast that he doesn’t introspect at all, and that in fact, people shouldn’t. What’s really going on?

@davidgerard i am tired of people ascribing to VCs abilities well beyond them.
@davidgerard I think he didn't bother to even read one book More likely he got a LLM to summarise it.

@davidgerard I read that yesterday - Lopatto skewers him appropriately.

I just love how these billionaires just assume that their own issues are baseline what everyone thinks and instead they're just displaying the issues that they should be in therapy for to the whole world

@Jer @davidgerard even realising that would require them to engage in some degree of introspection…

@mark_f_lynch @davidgerard Like the very idea that "introspection" didn't exist until the 20th century? My man - read, like, any poetry in the history of the world. Take one religious history course. Discuss any element of Greek philosophy

Narrow-minded incurious rich people are going to be the death of us all

@davidgerard
"Whatever is happening to normal people as a result of AI overreliance has already happened to the ultra-wealthy."

He's definitely making a good and valid point there! We should all take note!

@davidgerard let’s not forget this sad dude made his dollars from robbing UIUC’s NCSA’s MOSAIC - the SV’s favorite form of theft disguised as “capitalism”. Just because someone knows how to accumulate wealth (often via questionable means) does not mean they are worth paying attention to
@davidgerard I always suspected this dude had a half-eaten ham sandwich for a brain, now it seems he's confirmed it for us.
