Maximilian Overdraft, Esq.Virtual reality, like 3D, was never going to be much more than a gimmick, easily tossed aside, especially if it was underwhelming and cost money. Even the cyberpunks didn't see VR as more than a metaphor for an unrealizable future of corporate dominance, and "ICE" was security software, not a bunch of goons IRL.
