It always pisses me off when someone says β€œnobody expected this”. NO! I have been expecting for decades exactly this and many other bits of bad news about accelerating climate breakdown. And I am not alone. Anyone who understands exponential changes has had the same fears.

Edit: I picked a bad example; apparently the sarcasm does not translate well. My general point stands, though.

@KimSJ

Irony is often easier to notice/understand in the original language than in a translation.

That's a shame, but unfortunately, it can't be changed.

@memo
Ah, forgive me. I’m so used to seeing mainstream media using similar phrases that I’m auto-triggered.

@KimSJ

No problem at all. πŸ˜€

It is of course also easier for those who already know my opinion on this topic and have been following my posts for years. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

You have gained a new follower. πŸ™‚

@KimSJ

Thanks for following, but apart from some answers, I only write in German.

@memo No problem. I think it’s important to follow news from other parts of the world. I wish I spoke enough German not to have to rely on the built-in translator, but at least that usually helps.
(Anyway, anyone with a beard more serious than my own must be worth listening to. 😜)
