📖 Usage:
Attach the past form of verbs + とき to express "when" something happened in the past.

💡 Nuance:
Used for completed actions or states that occurred before the main action. More specific timing than present form + とき.

📝 Examples:
1. 日本に来たとき、何も分からなかった。
→ When I came to Japan, I didn't understand anything.

2. 電話したとき、彼は寝ていた。
→ When I called, he was sleeping.
