POV: you're trying to book a haircut. Your regular hairdresser has an SQL error on their home page, so you go to the site of a hairdresser next to them, and it "can't access property split of undefined" on login.

I think I should just accept my fate and book the haircut in person.

@nina_kali_nina whyst the fuckst is a hairdresser on azure
@shinmera 😭 I wish I knew. I feel like everyone is looking for a good working booking system but all of them are very very bad

@nina_kali_nina @shinmera

God there are so many developers out of work and so few development funds to help them start a company.

@shinmera @nina_kali_nina behind a CDN too. either they are a massive multi-national business with hundreds of thousands of clients worldwide who also NEED their hairdresser's website to load with absolute minimum latency ..or someone sold them an over-engineered website
@nina_kali_nina Just as long as they don't segfault while cutting your hair.
@nina_kali_nina I don’t think when someone quipped that software is eating the world this is what they meant.
@nina_kali_nina if structural engineers had the same quality control as software ones we'd live among rubble.

@nina_kali_nina Well that's a lovely half open door to hackers who now know table names to target...

Hope you got your booking somewhere, though!

@nina_kali_nina why the fuck does a hairdresser uses azure lmfaooo

@demdemdemdem @nina_kali_nina The hairdresser seems to be using a SaaS company that does bookings for salons/spa venues/etc.

Not as funny, but still...

@nina_kali_nina This is how I once felt about dentists
@nina_kali_nina I actually have a bigger issue where within my DNA script I have baldness which actually means I don’t have to book haircut appointments to deal with hair array overflows but I do get sunburns rapidly if I forget to allocate the area to a hat. 🤭
@nina_kali_nina vibe coding is going as well as everyone expected i see...

@nina_kali_nina At least you have a more obvious failure mode. 😅

At my place, last time I booked online, the system didn't register the booking properly. As a result, I went there and someone else had my time slot. Since that day, I just use the web site to look at free time slots, then call them up to do the actual booking.

@nina_kali_nina What's wrong with the holy trinity Telephon + Pen + Daily Planner?
@idiran believe it or not, I have anxiety about phone calls
@nina_kali_nina I was thinking about the hairdresser (my barber has a weekly planner for this), but good point.
@nina_kali_nina Mine still has a paper book to register appointments. It took them ages for them to accept card payments instead of cash only.
@nina_kali_nina they're not there to split hairs but to cut them
@nina_kali_nina i’d probably try to SQLi the first purely to book a haircut anyways… but I don’t really do “haircuts” so what do I know /lh
@domi 🤔 no "haircuts"?
@nina_kali_nina yes, calling people is a skill 'we' are loosing. Websites, especially for non-techy small businesses tend to suck a _lot_ which i a shame.
