Some fun elf writing concepts.

In my world-building, elves grow extremely slowly the first fifty years (one of the reasons why they don't have babies very often). Then they spend the next fifty in class and training. Kids are basically treated like adults in training. They don't hit puberty until around 110-120, and then they're given a few years break because they're completely silly and useless due to the hormonal and magical adjustments they go through.

They call it the blooming stage, and it frequently involves sending those hundred-and-teen-agers off somewhere else, because elven magic involves sharing it, and emotions are closely tied to their magic. Two blooming stage elves can get a room full of tired adult elves acting like they're drunk if they're not careful.
Humans aware of this generally find it hysterical, and will readily host them under the guise of a human studies program.
