@randahl Trump is not much of a historian. The Japanese government had intended to declare war immediately before their sneak attack on Pearl Harbour, they just botched it.
Trump had no intention of declaring war before his sneak attack, and still hasn't done so.

@randahl @marjolica Fun fact: U.S. intelligence had the gist of it before the Japanese embassy had it decrypted.

Had Japan given their own embassy enough time for decryption, they probably would have lost the surprise at Pearl Harbor.

Wars are always series of fuckups.
