Finally found a #keto / #carnivore meal while homeless, when I can afford it. $1.50 cup of Sour Cream and $1.50 jar of Beech-Nut Beef + Broth baby food.
@opensourced Though not strict carnivore, the Costco rotisserie chicken is the best deal I've found. Somehow it has TEN ingredients. I'm told a lot of is browning agents in the skin so I give that to my dog. Even here in Hawaii it's still only $5, but does require someone with a Costco membership.
@Underthehighwatermarkc Can you eat a whole chicken in one go? How's hawaii?
@opensourced A whole Costco chicken in one sitting would be hard. They are unnaturally large.
Hawaii is expensive. I'm in Pahoa on the Big Island and there is some cheap land in this area still, but it's high risk, lava zone one. Lots of off grid places with no permits though and the state and county are pro that.
@Underthehighwatermarkc it seems like a lot of chicken would be wasted without refrigeration.
Interesting to hear about Pahoa land availability. It makes me curious how cheap, when you say cheap.
@opensourced Have a look at Craigslist big island real estate. You can find an acre for about $20k, but it'll be barren black lava rock and your neighbors WILL be tweakers. Whatever you do, don't buy a lot without first visiting and getting a feel for each area. This island has everything from desert to rainforest and every micro climate in between. There are the obvious positives to living in Hawaii, but theres some negatives too. Healthcare is hard at times...
